Summer Deals for Winter Sports

We may be in the depths of summer but winter enthusiasts know that now is the best time to shop for winter gear!  For beginners, one thing is most important to remember: breathable layers to stay warm.  Check out this page on the Winter Feels Good Web site to break it all down for you, and remember these tips:
  • NO JEANS!
  • Choose synthetic materials that wick moisture away from your skin-- letting swear evaporate before it makes you cold.
  • Helmets are great for safety as well as warmth.
  • Don't layer socks- one pair will do it.
  • Consider bringing along hand/toe warmers if you are especially sensitive to cold.
  • Don't forget sunscreen!

Ski Helmet Use Continues to Increase

The National Ski Areas Association reports that 43% of U.S. skiers and boarders wear helmets- a number which is increasing every season.

The annual demographic study also showed that 70% of children under the age of 9 wear helmets.

Not only are helmets great for safety, they are also warm-- say goodbye to cold ears! Some companies are taking it one step further and making helmets even more useful: Smith's audio helmets let you connect your MP3 player to its built-in headphones.
Check out Lids on Kids to learn more about the important of helmets for kids!

What do you think about helmets? Do you wear one? Do your children? Are you thinking about buying your first one?
